"Conquest of The Planet
Detroit / Tell me Why"
As Recorded By Maggotron Featuring Smokey Dee and E. Jaye Brown.
Written by James McCauley
Narration 1:
(DXJ thru a harmonizer): The
Charts, our last unconquered frontier, Yea, though the encoded vibe of the DX
groove has embraced many a hip ear through vinyl transcription, the ultimate fulfillment
of radio active chart busting destiny has been as elusive as the city of
Atlantis as it eludes it's treasure hungry seekers, yet all indicators point to
the fact that there is an enemy at work, it's name corruption, and it can take
its toll on artist and fan alike. Not only does it taint the universal language
of music, it turns the thinking masses into programmable commodities, making the
ratings go flop and causing computers to Pop!
Rap Verse 1:
(Jude "Smokey Dee"
Hayes): This is your friendly station
XXX where we play your jam if you place a bet,
You put your rubles on the table and turn your head, and the next thing you know
you're in the top ten!
The community at large is who we support, even though our jams are
imported from New York.
Yeah we're rated number one by our own special test, so don't bother
calling in with your silly conquest!
Narration 2:
(DXJ thru a harmonizer): Causing
chaos all over the dance floor sector, through various incarnations, we have triumphed
despite corruptions evil grip.
From California to New York and even through Vice Town, where vast numbers of
such vinyl wasters, like the uneventful "Trashpose"
,"No-Style" and the whole mob at "Poorsite Records", Jamron
groove reigns supreme in the heart, feet, and soul of the remaining descendants
of the Nation Of Sweat.
Thus it is in their behalf and all others who claim hold to its lineage
throughout the known dance floor world that the forces of Jamron proceed at full
throttle to their inevitable conquest, Yes the very same ones who invaded and
raided the City Of Jungles in the Neolithic land of King Raptusi and returned
through the Planet Detroit with the lost groove of the missing beat, despite the
various "Ice To Know You" attitudes displayed by those in control of
leisure land.
Rap Verse 2:
(Jude "Smokey Dee"
Hayes): Imitating, duplicating,
Xeroxing to the max, the eternal vows of the copy cats,
Yeah they know not why, nor do they try, while originality just passes them by,
From the depths of Vice town to the Motherland, we show and prove by taking or
stand,
Yeah we're passing every test, and ain't nothing gonna stop our conquest!
Narration 3:
(DXJ thru a harmonizer):
Yes
the prevailing "Ice to know you attitude, combined with corruption, these
are the forerunners among a list of many other negative vibes common in the
world of so called leisure time R-n-B , ( Rhythm and Business That is) and it is
against these evil forces that we press on to our goal!
Up until this time the battle has been fought only on the dance floor -street
level-urban funk zones, from deep in the hole to the outer fringes of the
musical galaxy and heralded forth only by word of mouth and musical
expressiveness!
But now the battle is to begin full scale throughout multimedia land,
knowledgeable people will see it, rational people will buy it, and those in
control will have to try it!
Rap Verse 3:
(Jude "Smokey Dee"
Hayes): Real deep in the city
near place called the hole, where the record buying people are sick of
radio,
An insurrection's being led against the forces at hand, because the stations
don't play what the people demand!
Politicking , bootlicking, and just downright corrupt, they keep holding back
what they should give up!
Mad avenue programming is nothing but a waste, because the people flip flop to
suit there taste.
And so the battle goes on like a cold hard sweat, for the people want to have as
much as they can get,
The conquest goes on getting deeper by the point, while the party people groove
to the sound of Detroit!
.....The song now turns into
"Tell me why"...
Verse 1
( E. Jaye Brown ): When
we were younger, you never knew, the way that I was so in love with you,
And every day and night I 'd call your name, I guess that some would say, that I
am going insane,
Infatuation, is what my friends would say, But no other lover could make me feel
this way.
You keep me satisfied, you set my soul free, if only you could see what this is
doing to me...
Chorus
Tell me why, tell me why'd you have to leave me, I've got to know baby!
I really believed that you needed me, tell me why, I really, really love you,
don't you know girl, it's going to take some time to get over you!
Verse 2
( E. Jaye Brown ): When
you gave me your love, you really turned my world around, and now that I'm
hooked on you, you can't be found!
Well this is far from over, it doesn't matter how long, I'm gonna find you baby,
and find out...
Chorus x 2
Infatuation, is what my friends would say, But no other lover could make me feel
this way.
You're keeping me satisfied, you set my soul free, if only you could see what
this is doing to me...
Well this is long from over, it doesn't matter how long, I'm gonna find you
baby, and find out, find out what went wrong!

Invisoclam runs down the
heaviness of Maggotron's "Conquest of the Planet Detroit and Tell me
why" .
DXJ goes off on another tangent about the corrupt and
contemptuous forces at radio, especially local radio that ignores local talent,
and imports jams from other places (for a fee of course). Mix in couple of digs
at contemporaries such as "No Style" (Freestyle) , Trashpose'
(Expose), and Poor-sight, ( 4-Sight Records), and then inexplicably tags a
ballad on to the end of the rant! A special appearance by ''Smokey Dee"
adds an unexpected flavor to the track as well as E. Jaye Brown's soulful vocals
on the "Tell Me Why" portion of the track. Yes, the whole point being
made by DXJ is "Why" is the music business so fake and corrupt
and "Why" does love have to be the way it is!
There is a lot of Emulator 2 on this track,
checks out Ron Sansone's Shakuhachi solo!
InvisoRating:

Invisoclam rates "Conquest/Tell Me
Why" the classic "Big Ol' Tub of Jamaican Lobsters Rating",
meaning that boy if you like your anti-music-biz- corruption jams topped off
with a steamy ballad, well then you would also enjoy a big ol' tub of Jamaican
lobsters, that is if you can get them!
